WALTER, Young Singleton, a Republican from Delaware County; born, August 11, 1811 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pa.; printing apprentice; editor, Delaware County Republican (1833-1883); inspector, United States Customs Service, Marcus Hook (1845); postmaster, United States Postal Service, Chester (1861-1865); elected, city council, Chester (1870-1875; president, 1874-1875); elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1876, 1877 and 1878; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1880); died, May 22, 1883 in Chester, Delaware County, Pennsylvania; interred, Chester Rural Cemetery, Chester, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.
