SMITH, Carlton A., a Representative from Pike County; born, May 2, 1835 in Milford, Pike County, Pa.; graduated, Milford Academy; graduated, Blair Seminary, NJ; saddle and harness manufacturer; elected, sheriff, Pike County (1875-1877); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1878; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1880); died, April 15, 1909 in Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida; interred, First Methodist Cemetery, Lewistown, Mifflin County, Pennsylvania.
