SHEAR, William, a Representative from Potter County; born, June 7, 1826 in Kelso, Berwickshire, Scotland; tanner; elected as a member of the National Greenback party to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1878; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1880, 1888); justice of the peace, Coudersport (1893-1904); unsuccessful campaign, treasurer, Potter County (1895); died, October 4, 1904; interred, Eulalia Cemetery, Coudersport, Potter County, Pennsylvania.
