PATTERSON, Findley, a Representative from Armstrong and Washington Counties; born, May 16, 1808 in Cross Creek Township, Washington County, Pa.; flour manufacturer and dealer; elected, commissioner, Armstrong County (1837-1838); elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1839-1840); not a candidate for reelection to the Senate (1841); appointed, state revenue commissioner (1843); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1844 and 1845; elected, Speaker (1845-1846); not a candidate for reelection to the House (1846); elected, school director; presidential appointee, receiver, United States Land Office, Ogden, Kansas Territory (1857-1861); land surveyor; reelected to the House in 1878; died while in office, February 12, 1880 in Burgettstown, Washington County, Pennsylvania; interred, Hillcrest Cemetery, Burgettstown, Washington County, Pennsylvania.
