McCANDLESS, William Harrison, a Representative from Lawrence County; born, January 15, 1836 in Lawrence County, Pa.; sergeant, Company A, 123rd Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1862-1863, Civil War); captain, Battery I, 212th Regiment, 6th Pennsylvania Heavy Artillery (1864-1865, Civil War); plasterer; engaged, wholesale grain business; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1879 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1881 term; died, February 4, 1913 in New Castle, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania; interred, Greenwood Cemetery, New Castle, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania.
