MATLACK, Jesse, a Representative from Chester County; born, April 21, 1821 in Milltown, Chester County, Pa.; attended, Hoopes boarding school; farmer; postmaster, United States Postal Service, Milltown (1849-1876); justice of the peace (3 terms), tax collector, assessor, auditor, school director, East Goshen Township; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1876 and 1878; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1880); died, April 5, 1893 in East Goshen Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania; interred, Goshen Friends Burial Ground, West Chester, Chester County, Pennsylvania.
