HOLGATE, James, a Representative from Philadelphia County; born, August 6, 1827 in Pittston, Luzerne County, Pa.; carpenter; partner, Holgate, Johnson & Hortor, street pavers; unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1862); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1867 and 1868; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1869); reelected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1878; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1880); engaged, real estate; died, November 14, 1906 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, Central Laurel Hill Cemetery, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.
