FOSTER, Charles Henry, a Representative from Lehigh County; born, January 30, 1836 in Upper Milford Township, Lehigh County, Pa.; attended, Franklin and Marshall College; first lieutenant, Company K, 176th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1862-1863, Civil War); teacher; farmer; appointed, health officer, Beaufort, South Carolina (1863); proprietor, Ontelaunce Wool Mills; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1878; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1880); died, December 5, 1900 in Jacksonville, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania; interred, Jacob’s Union Church Cemetery, New Tripoli, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania.
