ETTER, John, a Representative from Lebanon County; born, July 16, 1823 in Bethel Township, Berks County, Pa.; attended, Myerstown Academy; teacher (2 years); postmaster, United States Postal Service, Tulpehocken, Pa.; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1878; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1880); unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1882); died, October 9, 1885 in Myerstown, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania.
