EMERY, Lewis, Jr., a Representative from McKean County; born, August 10, 1839 in Cherry Creek Township, Chautauqua County, NY; graduated, Hillsdale College, Mi.; miller; proprietor, Emery Oil Company; proprietor, general hardware store, machine and railroad supply house; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1879 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1881 term; elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1881-1889); president, Bradford, DeGolier & Smethport Railroad Company (1880); engaged, merchant flour milling, Mi.; proprietor, lumber mill, Ky.; proprietor, wheat farms, ND.; unsuccessful campaign, Governor of Pennsylvania (1906); died, November 19, 1924 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, Oak Hill Cemetery, Bradford, McKean County, Pennsylvania.
