DORRANCE, Benjamin, a Representative from Tioga County; born in Elkland, Tioga County, Pa., May 3, 1836; attended, Deerfield Academy; graduated, Alfred University, NY, 1856; farmer; merchant; notary public (1867-1878); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in a Special Election, November of 1877; reelected to the 1879 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1881 term; died, June 26, 1881 in Elmira, Chemung County, New York; interred, Highland Cemetery, Elkland, Tioga County, Pennsylvania.
