CARGILL, John Wesley, a Representative from Susquehanna County; born, May 25, 1831 in Jackson, Susquehanna County, Pa.; attended, Wyoming Seminary; attended, Harford University (now defunct); teacher; farmer; published poet; elected, auditor, Susquehanna County (1853-1856); elected as a National Greenback to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1878; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1880); unsuccessful reelection as a Democrat to the House (1890); died, February 15, 1904 in Jackson, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania; interred, East Jackson Cemetery, Jackson, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania.
