BOWMAN, Philip Stambaugh, a Representative from York County; born, February 15, 1846 in Jackson Township, York County, Pa.; teacher (5 years); farmer; elected, assessor, Heidelberg Township (1869-1870); school director (1874-1875); elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Democrat to serve the 1877, 1878 and 1879 terns; not a candidate for reelection to the House  to serve the 1881 term; secretary, Farmers’ Mutual Fire Insurance Co.; justice of the peace, Penn Township (1885-1913); died, December 31, 1913 in Hanover, York County, Pennsylvania; interred, Mount Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, York County, Pennsylvania.
