BENNETT, Dr. Ash D., a Representative from Clearfield County; born, December 6, 1836 in Linden, Lycoming County, Pa.; attended, West Branch High School, Jersey Shore, Pa.; M.D., Pennsylvania Medical College, 1860; assistant surgeon, Company S, 93rd Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1864-1865, Civil War); physician; revenue collector, treasurer and steward, Dickinson Seminary (now Lycoming College); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1879 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1881 term; surgeon, Beech Creek, Pennsylvania & North West Railroads; elected, burgess, Mahaffey, Clearfield County; died, November 29, 1913 in Clearfield, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania; interred, Hillcrest Cemetery, Clearfield, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania.
