BROWN, Henry Riehle, a Representative from Montgomery County; born, December 15, 1844 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pa.; first lieutenant, Company D, 11th Regiment, Pennsylvania Emergency Militia (1862, Civil War); lawyer (1866-1871); engaged in mercantile business; special bank examiner, office of the comptroller of the currency, State of California; notary public (1877-1881); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in a Special Election , February 15, 1881; Sworn-In, February 18, 1881 to serve the remaining 1881 term; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1882); secretary, Montgomery County Republican Committee (1882-1885); elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1886-1890); died, January 12, 1900 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, Montgomery Cemetery, Norristown, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
