PROVINS, Jacob, a Representative from Fayette County; born in Carmichaelstown, Greene County, Pa., April 3, 1841; school teacher; elected, burgess, Masontown (1876-1877); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1879 and 1881 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1883 term; unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania State Senate (1884); died, December 19, 1914 in Greensboro, Greene County, Pennsylvania; interred, Masontown Cemetery, Masontown, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.
