PEARCE, Josiah Sibley, a Representative from Montgomery County; born, November 10, 1841 in Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County, Pa; first lieutenant, Battery L, 112th Regiment, 2nd Pennsylvania Heavy Artillery (1862-1865, Civil War); undertaker; justice of the peace, Lower Merion Township (1875-1880); elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1880; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1882); president, Merion Title and Trust Company; died, June 19, 1915 in Ardmore, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania; interred, West Laurel Hill Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
