McFARLAN, George S., a Representative from Berks County; born, January 25, 1843 in Reading, Berks County, Pa.; private, Company B, 128th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1862-1863, Civil War); machinist, Pennsylvania Railroad shops (50 years); elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Democrat in 1878 and 1880; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1882); unsuccessful campaign, mayor, Reading (1883); died, February 8, 1920 in Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania; interred, Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania.
