HILLIS, Elisha Lewis, a Representative from Bradford County; born, January 10, 1846 in Herrick, Bradford County, Pa.; educated, Susquehanna Collegiate Institute (now Susquehanna University); graduated, Lafayette College, 1872; teacher; attorney-at-law (1875-1908); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1880; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1882); council, Missouri Pacific Railroad; school superintendent, Stafford, Ks.; school superintendent, Sedgwick, Ks.; appointed, superintendent, Soldiers’ Orphans Home, Atchison, Ks. (1899-1907); died, January 17, 1908 in the city of Stafford, Stafford County, Kansas; interred, Merryall Cemetery, Merryall, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.
