FRENCH, Samuel Hampton, a Representative from Allegheny County; born in Allegheny City, Allegheny County, Pa., November 4, 1836; school teacher; principal, the White School, Pittsburgh; bookkeeper, Thomas Wightman Glass Company; elected, school board, Pittsburgh (6 years); elected, common council, Pittsburgh (5 years); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1881 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1883 term; member, poor board, Pittsburgh; secretary and treasurer, Fort Pitt Incline Company (1882-1900); real estate and Insurance agent; notary public; died, April 15, 1900 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania; interred, Chartiers Cemetery, Carnegie, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
