DERICKSON, David Vincent, a Representative from Crawford County; born, April 9, 1818 in Meadville, Crawford County, Pa.; appointed, major (1842-1844) and brigade inspector (1844-1849), 1st Regiment, Crawford County Volunteers (1842-1844); Brigadier General, Pennsylvania National Guard (1849-1860); captain, Company D, 150th Regiment, “Bucktails,” Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (Civil War); engaged, chair and furniture business; appointed, deputy marshal, 1860 Census, Crawford County (1860); personal guard to President Abraham Lincoln (1862-1863); appointed, provost marshal, 20th district (1863-1865); elected, delegate, Republican National Convention (1864); elected, delegate, Republican State Conventions; postmaster, United States Postal Service, Meadville (1869-1873); unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1878, 1882); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1880); vice president, Society for the Relief of the Poor (1883-1889); board member, New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio Railroad (1883-1890); died, July 21, 1891 in Meadville, Crawford County, Pennsylvania; interred, Greendale Cemetery, Meadville, Crawford County, Pennsylvania.
