CASSIDY, Michael, a Representative from Carbon County; born, January 25, 1854 in Nesquehoning, Carbon County, Pa.; attended, Millersville State Normal School (now Millersville University of Pennsylvania); teacher; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1878 and 1880; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1882); attorney-at-law; elected, chair, Carbon County Democratic Committee; unsuccessful campaign, United States Congress (1886); elected, clerk to the commissioners, Carbon County; deputy surveyor and special superintendent, port of Philadelphia (1894-1898); appointed, inspector, United States Customs Service, Philadelphia (1899-1902); died, January 5, 1902 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.
