MITCHELL, Stanley Norman, a Representative from Susquehanna County; born, January 3, 1843 in Montrose, Susquehanna County, Pa.; attended, Hamilton College (now Colgate University), 1861-1862; sergeant major, Company B, 162nd Regiment, 17th Pennsylvania Volunteer Cavalry (1862-1864, Civil War); attorney-at-law; appointed, assistant United States assessor, Montrose (1868-1869); elected, justice of the peace, Montrose (1874-1878); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1882; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1884); engaged, real estate and insurance business; died, December 26, 1908 in Binghamton, Broome County, New York; interred, Floral Park Cemetery, Johnson City, Broome County, New York.
