TOWNSEND, Dr. Charles Wheeler, a Representative from Washington County; born, April 27, 1821 in Bower Hill, Washington County, Pa.; M.D., Jefferson Medical College (now Sidney Kimmel Medical College), 1849; fruit farmer; land surveyor; teacher; physician; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1882; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1884); unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1886, 1888); died, January 13, 1912 in Peters Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania; interred, Wrights United Methodist Church, Venetia, Washington County, Pennsylvania.
