THOMPSON, Alexander F., a Representative from Dauphin County, born, December 7, 1845 in Pottsville, Schuylkill County, Pa.; attended, Freeburg Academy; private, Company B, 129th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1862-1863, Civil War); corporal, Company E, 39th Regiment, Pennsylvania Emergency Militia (1863, Civil War); corporal, Company G, 80th Regiment,  7th Pennsylvania Volunteer Cavalry (1864-1865, Civil War); coal miner; proprietor, Snyder and Thompson, mercantile business; attorney (1877-1924); elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1880 and 1882; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1884); elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1885-1892); died, July 23, 1924 in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania; interred, Cavalry United Methodist Cemetery, Wiconisco, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.
