POTTS, John Templin, a Representative from Chester County; born, February 28, 1841 in Buckingham County, Va.; attended, Pottstown and Pottsville Academies; private, Company C, 4th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1861, Civil War); second lieutenant, Company A, 53rd Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1861-1863, Civil War); engaged, iron manufacturing; farmer; elected, treasurer, Chester County (1865-1868); elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1880 and 1882; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1884); door keeper and bookkeeper, United States Mint, Department of Treasury, Philadelphia; died, March 25, 1923 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, Mount Moriah Cemetery, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.
