McNAMARA, Robert Clemmens, a Representative from Bedford County; born, February 16, 1853 in Newry, Blair County, Pa.; attended, Millersville State Normal School (now Millersville University of Pennsylvania); graduated, University of Michigan, 1879; major, Company I, 5th Regiment, Pennsylvania National Guard (1878-1898, Spanish-American War); lawyer; co-owner and editor, Bedford Gazette (1880-1898); elected, school director (6 years); elected, burgess, Bedford; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1883 term; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1884); appointed, District Attorney, Bedford County (1887); unsuccessful campaign, United States Congress (1896); died, March 4, 1912 in the city of Bedford, Bedford County, Pennsylvania; interred, Bedford Cemetery, Bedford, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.
