GARDINER, Charles Lewis, a Representative from Wayne County; born, November 15, 1844 in Greenville, Greene County, NY; attended, Wyoming Seminary; merchant; postmaster, United States Postal Service, Equinunk, Pa. (1882); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1882; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1884); unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania State Senate (1886); president, Wayne County Republican Convention (1887); died, February 6, 1919 in Binghamton, Broome County, New York; interred in Hancock, Delaware County, New York.
