BUTTERMORE, Dr. Smith, a Representative from Fayette County; born, February 29, 1830 in Connellsville Township, Fayette County, Pa.; graduated, Jefferson Academy; M.D., Cleveland Medical College, 1854; assistant surgeon, Company F, 31st Regiment, Virginia Volunteer Infantry (1861-1865, Civil War); physician; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1881 and 1883 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1885 term; died, December 28, 1897 in Connellsville, Fayette County, Pennsylvania; Interred, Hill Grove Cemetery, Connellsville, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.
