STOCKSLEGER, Samuel S., a Representative from Adams County, born, February 4, 1840 in Adams County, Pa.; attended, Millersville State Normal School (now Millersville University of Pennsylvania); private, Company B, 182nd Regiment, 21st Pennsylvania Volunteer Cavalry (1862-1863, Civil War); sergeant, Company K, 87th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1865, Civil War); teacher; farmer; cattle broker; veterinarian surgeon; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1884; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1886); hotel proprietor; merchant; watchman, United States Customs Service, Philadelphia; died, September 6, 1925 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, Flohrs Lutheran Church Cemetery; McKnightstown, Adams County, Pennsylvania.
