SPONAGLE, James W., a Representative from Berks County; born, February 12, 1843 near Springfield, Chester County, Pa.; attended, People’s Business College of Reading; teacher (1864-1879); proprietor, Sponagle Brothers, building contracting and plastering; elected, justice of the peace (1875-1882); elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Democrat in 1882 and 1884; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1886); elected, recorder of wills, Berks County, (1895-1898); director, First National Bank of Birdsboro; died, October 21, 1929 in Birdsboro, Berks County, Pennsylvania; interred, Saint Paul’s United Methodist Church Cemetery, Geigertown, Berks County, Pennsylvania.
