SMITH, Asa G. W, a Representative from Berks County; born, January 17, 1842 in Southwick, Hampden County, Ma; attended, Westfield Academy; gun powder manufacturer; railroad and bridge contractor; elected, delegate, Democratic State Convention (1882); elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Democrat in 1882 and 1884; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1886); superintendent, Cressona Powder Company; died, June 2, 1902 in Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania.
