NORTHUP, Nicholas Carr, a Representative from Lackawanna and Luzerne Counties; born, May 28, 1824 in Abington Township, Luzerne County (now Lackawanna County), Pa.; farmer; school director, Abington Township (1866-1869); elected, road supervisor, Abington Township; elected, burgess, Glenburn (1877-1880); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1884; died while in office, February 12, 1885 in Glenburn, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania; interred, Hickory Grove Cemetery, Waverly, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania.
