MAWHINNEY, Samuel L., a Representative from Allegheny County; born in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pa., May 19, 1847; bricklayer; deputy sheriff, Allegheny County; alderman, 6th Ward, Pittsburgh; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1882 and 1884; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1886); unsuccessful Citizens Party campaign for reelection to the House (1902); died, January 25, 1928 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania; interred, Homeland Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
