GLENN, Archibald David, a Representative from Armstrong County; born, January 30, 1842 near Dayton, Armstrong County, Pa.; attended, Iron City College; private, Company B, 78th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1861-1863, Civil War); teacher; principal, Wood’s Run School; superintendent, Armstrong County public schools, (1872-1881); editor, Union Free Press (2 years); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1883 and 1885 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1886); unsuccessful campaign, United States Congress (1886); statistical clerk, State Department of Public Instruction (1887-1905); deputy superintendent, State Department of Public Instruction (1906-1918); died, March 15, 1918 in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.
