ENGELMAN, Dr. Joseph P., a Representative from Northampton County; born, April 30, 1833 in Bath, Northampton County, Pa.; M.D., Jefferson Medical College (now Sidney Kimmel Medical College), 1861; cigar manufacturer; physician, Northampton County Alms House; private physician; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1882 and 1884; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1886); postmaster, United States Postal Service, Cherryville, Pa. (1886-1889); died, July 15, 1898 in Cherryville, Northampton County, Pennsylvania; interred, Green Mount Cemetery, Bath, Northampton County, Pennsylvania.
