BARCLAY, James Lewis, a Representative from Lycoming County; born, March 9, 1836 in Bloomsburg, Columbia County, Pa..; private, Company B, 14th Regiment, Pennsylvania Emergency Militia (1862, Civil War); marble engraver and dealer; elected, burgess, Jersey Shore, Pa. (1872); unsuccessful campaign for election to the House (1878, 1880); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1884; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1886).
