WRIGHT, Jacob Ridgway, a Representative from Lackawanna and Luzerne Counties; born, July 7, 1856 in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, Pa.; graduated, Princeton College (now Princeton University), 1879; first lieutenant, Company D, 9th Regiment, Pennsylvania National Guard (1884-1890); major and inspector, Third Brigade, Pennsylvania National Guard (1890-1895); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1886; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1888); elected, chair, Lackawanna County Democratic Committee (1892); unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania State Senate (1892); elected, council, Wilkes-Barre (1894-1899); elected, president, common council, Wilkes-Barre (1899-1902); unsuccessful campaign, mayor, Wilkes-Barre (1902); died, January 20, 1905 in Manhattan, New York City, New York County, New York; interred, Hollenback Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.
