WHITE, James Irvin, a Representative from Huntingdon County; born, July 25, 1845 in Huntingdon County, Pa.; graduated, Millersville State Normal School (now Millersville University of Pennsylvania), 1869; private, Company C, 148th Indiana Volunteer Infantry (1865, Civil War); teacher; principal, Huntingdon County public schools (1873-1884); school director, Huntingdon borough; general agent, North Western Life Insurance Company; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1886; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1888); professor; treasurer, Dickinson College (1907-1910); died, July 10, 1910 in Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania; interred, Ashland Cemetery, Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania.
