TAHANEY, John, a Representative from Schuylkill County; born, May 18, 1848 in Oldham, Lancashire, England; miner, Philadelphia & Reading Coal & Iron Company; appointed, tax collector, East Mahanoy Township (1880); elected, tax collector, Mahanoy Township (1886); elected as a Green Labor Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1886; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1888); railroad watchman; died, April 7, 1922 in Mahanoy City, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania; interred, St. Canicus Cemetery, Mahanoy City, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania.
