STEVENSON, Dr. Silas, a Representative from Lawrence County; born, February 2, 1845 in Hillsville, Lawrence County, Pa.; M.D., Western Reserve University (now Case Western Reserve University), 1868; private, Company K, 100th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1864-1865, Civil War); physician (1868-1918); proprietor, drug store; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1885 and 1887 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1889 term; elected, council, Ellwood City (5 terms); elected, school director, Ellwood City; postmaster, United States Postal Service, New Bedford, Pa. (1872-1884); United States Medical Examiner of Pensions, Lawrence and Beaver County district (1888-1892); died, March 8, 1918 in Ellwood City, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania; interred, Greenwood Cemetery, New Castle, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania.
