SEAMANS, John M., a Representative from Lackawanna and Luzerne Counties; born, May 1, 1825 in Abington Township, Luzerne County (now Lackawanna County), Pa.; captain, Company B, 30th Regiment, Pennsylvania Emergency Militia (1863, Civil War); farmer; engaged, mercantile business; elected, justice of the peace; postmaster, United States Postal Service, Wallsville (1861-1868); elected, commissioner, Luzerne County (1870-1873); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1886; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1888); died, April 7, 1891 in Benton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania.
