RICE, Dr. George L., a Representative from Adams County; born, January 15, 1850 in the city of Baltimore, Md.; attended, Loyola College, Baltimore; M.D., Washington University, 1872; prosector and adjunct to the chair of anatomy, Washington University (1872-1876); physician; elected, coroner, Adams County (1878-1882); elected, council, McSherrystown; elected, school director, McSherrystown; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Democrat in 1886; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1888); chair, Adams County Democratic Committee (1888-1889); justice of the peace (36 years); health officer, Adams County; director, Hanover and McSherrystown Street Railway Company; director, Hanover and McSherrystown Turnpike Company; organized, McSherrystown Water Company; unsuccessful campaign, associate judge, Adams County (1933); died, July 15, 1935 in McSherrystown, Adams County, Pennsylvania; interred, Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cemetery, McSherrystown, Adams County, Pennsylvania.
