OWENS, George W., a Representative from Huntingdon County; born, November 11, 1829 in Birmingham, Huntingdon County, Pa.; attended, Mountain Seminary; engaged in farming and merchandizing; elected, burgess, Birmingham; elected, council and school director, Birmingham; appointed, aid to the Governor of Kansas; unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1876, 1890); elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1886; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1888); died, November 19, 1902 in Birmingham, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania; interred, Birmingham Cemetery, Birmingham, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania.
