HELFRICK, Edward W., a Representative from Northumberland and Schuylkill Counties; born in Pottsville, Schuylkill County, Pa., March 11, 1928; graduated, Mount Carmel Senior High School, 1945; paratrooper, 11th Airborne Division, United States Army (1945-1946, World War II); engaged, Kerris and Helfrick, Inc., anthracite coal business; proprietor, Bear Gap Stone Quarry; proprietor, Norco Truck and Diesel; member, Northumberland County Airport Authority; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1977 and 1979 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1980); elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1981-2002); director, First National Trust Bank and Susquehanna Bancshares, Inc.; died, September 28, 2021 in Danville, Montour County, Pennsylvania; interred, All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania.
