FAUNCE, John Egner, a Representative from Philadelphia County; born, October 26, 1840 in Millersburg, Dauphin County, Pa.; graduated, Dickinson Seminary (now Lycoming College); LL.B., University of Pennsylvania, 1865; private, Comly’s Independent Company, Pennsylvania Emergency Militia Cavalry (1863, Civil War); attorney (1865-1917); elected, delegate, Democratic National Convention (1868); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1875 term, reelected to serve 8 more consecutive terms; elected, Speaker (1883-1884); not a candidate for reelection to the House (1888); died, July 24, 1917 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, Laurel Hill Cemetery, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.
