DOUGLAS, James L., a Representative from Berks County; born, 1827 in Reading, Berks County, Pa.; attended, Reading Academy; employed, nail factory; engaged, machinist; elected, common and select councils, Reading; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1886; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1888); member, Board of Public Works, Reading; member, Board of Park Commissioners, Reading; director, Douglas & Conard, brass founders and machinists; died, March 14, 1910 in Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania; interred, Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania.
