DEAN, William A., a Representative from Northumberland County; born, October 22, 1827 in Washingtonville, Montour County, Pa.; teacher; surveyor; farmer; justice of the peace, Montour and Northumberland Counties; unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania State Senate (1866); elected, delegate, County and State Democratic Conventions; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1886; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1888); elected, school director, Milton; deputy sheriff, Northumberland County; appointed, sheriff, Northumberland County (1892); died, June 9, 1910 in Watsontown, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania; interred, Milton Cemetery, East Milton, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania.
