DAVIS, Dr. Samuel T., a Representative from Lancaster County; born March 6, 1838 in Cottage, Shaver’s Creek Valley, Huntingdon County, Pa.; attended, Millersville State Normal School (now Millersville University of Pennsylvania); attended, Jefferson Medical College (now Sidney Kimmel Medical College); attended, Long Island College, NY; ordinance sergeant, Company H, 15th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1861, Civil War); second lieutenant, 77th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1861, Civil War); adjunct, 77th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1861-1863, Civil War); captain, Company G, 77th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1863-1864, Civil War); physician; trustee, Millersville State Normal School (9 years); elected, city council, Lancaster (5 years); elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1884 and 1886; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1888); elected, president, State Board of Health; died, October 23, 1908 in Mexico; memorialized, Greenwood Cemetery, Lancaster, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
