BOYD, Phipps Joseph, a Representative from Mercer County; born, March 3, 1840 in New Vernon Township, Mercer County, Pa.; apprenticed, wagonmaker; farmer; engaged, oil business (1863-1866); lumberjack (1866-1872); school director, Mount Vernon and Fairview Township schools; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican for the 1887 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1888); elected, justice of the peace, Fairview Township; interred, Millbank Cemetery, Fredonia, Mercer County, Pennsylvania.
